October Drupal Workshop

The October workshop will be on Tuesday, October 14th, at 7:30PM.

Location:
Manuel's Tavern
602 N. Highland Avenue
Atlanta, GA 30308
(Corner of N. Highland and North Avenue)
North Avenue meeting room.

This is a self-organizing meeting, with the goal to share knowledge about Drupal.
Members suggest the topics that they want to learn about, and we divide in workgroups.

One of the workgroups will be for new Drupal users.

September Drupal workshop report

Eight participants were at the Manuel's Tavern workshop on September 9th.
We had two workgroups.

One group worked on building the future Drupal Atlanta web site.

The other workgroup (for beginners) was on installing Drupal on a personal computer using Bitnami.
This is an easy way to learn Drupal and test a site before it goes live.

September Drupal Workshop

The September Workshop will be on September 9th, at Manuel's Tavern at 7:30PM in the North Avenue meeting room.
As the summer is ending and everyone is back in town we expect attendance to increase, so we'll go back to the original formula of having several workgroups after voting on the most popular topics.
At the last two workshops we had some members who were too new to Drupal to follow the discussion in a single workgroup, so from now on we'll make sure to have at least one workgroup dedicated to newcomers.

August Drupal Workshop Report

11 members were at the August 12 workshop at Manuel’s Tavern.
We had only one workgroup on how to create a head banner.
What we found out is that there are different ways to accomplish that, so we spent most of the time exchanging tips more than focusing on one single way to do it.

August Workshop

The August Workshop will be August 12th at 7:30PM at Manuel's Tavern in Atlanta.

Workshop report for July 8th, 2008

11 members were at the July 8th workshop at Manuel’s Tavern.
Mike Schinkel gave a workshop on search Engine Optimization (SEO), and shared some good tips, such as the importance of a good page title over H1 tags.
We then shared various tips such as node reference compared to node relativity.
We also went over the most used modules, and David Fugate gave an overview of the Panels module.

Workshop Report for June 10th, 2008

11 members participated in the June 10th workshop at Manuel's Tavern.
Two topics were suggested: the Views module, and the Panels module.
As everyone was interested in the Views module, we decided to have one single group on this topic.
Mike Schinkel showed us how he used Views on a web site he recently built for atvillustrated.com.
The site looks great. Mike explained how he used the powerful features in Views to organize the site in categories like makes, models, articles, and videos.
The workshop was clear, and we all learned a lot.

March 18, 2008 Meeting: Hands-on Hacking

The next meeting is one that many have awaited for some time. We'll have no agenda; just getting together and playing around with Drupal. Bring your questions and projects. Anticipate small working groups forming around key projects of interest.

Date: Tuesday, March 18, 2008
Location: 5 Seasons restaurant, Alpharetta, exit 10 off of hwy 400
